An unconvincing Win

The Seagulls were 15th last season and Graham Potter's Brighton Hove & Albion might take inspiration from their arch rival - Crystal Palace. The Red Devils lost to Crystal palace in their season opener and Brighton would have wanted to repeat the feat. It would have been tad harsh on Bruno Fernandez today but nevertheless it is the second instance in this season that OGS' men have conceded a penalty in a game. But for the two off sides, the game would have been a 5 -2 and the score line looked a bit more convincing than what it looked like in the end. Having said this, the 2 close shaves with the attempts hitting the wood work twice was a saving grace for the depleting pride of De Gea. A score line of 3 - 4 would have been a far more depressing than 3 - 2. This is the most clueless football I have seen from Manchester United after the David Moyes era. About anticipation, desperation and disappointment

For more than a week, it has been on my calendar to watch the start of the season for OGS' men in Red. I was looking forward to Van de beek making an impact, a rejuvenated Pogba, an inspiring Harry Maguire and a scintillating set of play makers and strikers in Bruno Fernandes, Martial and Rashford. I was in for a surprisingly disappointing performance by the team against Roy Hodgson's Eagles. In their white outfits, the eagles looked like pigeons that flocked around the ball and they built a wall which was impenetrable. If this is the way, Eagles are going to play - take a lead early and seal the box, they can make many teams sweat.  The game was put on a platter, garnished well, decorated and given away to Eagles by lack lustre, unimaginative and unconvincing play. With a transfer season that promised so much yet delivered so little, it was an anticipation that the good run of the post covid 19-20 season would be replicated.
